I think I will pick one song a month so that at the end of the year I will be able to look back and reflect on how things felt/changed. I will have my very own 12 track mixtape!! Fave band of all time, amazing song..unfortunately, pretty much reflects my life at the minute!!

Y Not FeStiVaL

I am off to the Y Not Festival today...In preparaton for this I sat in a pub from 3pm until 9pm and I got wankered on 4 bottles of wine!! A great idea!! I think not!! It was one of those afternoons where the drink just keeps flowing, good company, watching the world go by!!Before you know it, it's time to try and get home!! lololol!! :-D This is what I typed last night...

Oh dear...hair of the dog etc.... I might want to actually pack my stuff and get ready instead of sitting here writing this!! I will update next week!! The sun is shining but my head is elsewhere today!!Sometimes I wish my life was as easy as an afternoon in the pub!! :-Dx

WhY a bLOg?

I have been discussing the blog quite alot with people recently!!!
Had a wide variety of opinions on the point of a blog?
Mainly the question is why?
I suppose each person that keeps a blog has their own personal reasons? For me it is the following;
1) I have had a fairly traumatic last two years for a variety of reasons!!! (caused mainly by my inability to keep my cock in my pants!! lol) I wanted to reflect on this! :-Dx
2) I knew this year2009-2010 would see some masive changes/closures in my life and wanted to reflect on my thoughts as I went through this process.
3) I decided to do a blog after being inspired by my mates Stu and Lizz.
4) Project 365 - reflect on 365 days in your life
5) I have written lots of things but never really shown anyone - via the blog people can read my ramblings and crap poetry!! :-Dx
6) I have done so many things and I wanted to get the thoughts down before I forget!!
7) I wondered if I could use a blog in my teaching?
8) I am excited by the stuff I have planned for 2009/2010
9) I am fascinated by who might want to read my blog?????
10) When I get to April 30th in 2010 I will have completed the blog. What will I think? Where will I be? Who will I be with? What job will I be doing?Will I be able to grow a beard???? To me that is the whole point...Will I be able to grow a beard??? I mean, that its a bit of fun, a pleasent distraction on what is a fairly tough time in my life. :-Dx
I have just realised that I feel I need to do lists in 5 or 10 items...why? lol!! :-Dx

BeArDy MaN

I am off to the Y-Not Festival this weekend!! Can't wait to sit in a field again, listen to music, drink beer, hang out with my friends etc... Anyway, on the Saturday night the theme at the festival is nautical so I have decided to go as a pirate..thus grow a beard...Unfortunately as you can see by my 9 days of growth I have a beard my grandma would be proud of!! :-D The interesting thing about the beard is the reaction it has got from work colleagues and friends!! Am I more interesting with a beard? Am i a bit crazier to strangers? Am I just a scruffy lazy git who can't be arsed to shave??....Do I like the attention..hell yes..lol..The question is how do I keep the attention going...go to work with my nipples out?Maybe not!!;-D Interesting!! By the way I wouldn't suggest either if you are a lady..beard or nipples!!!

How a picture tells a story...Jellied Eels..a culinary delight.. Mmmmmm!! lolol!!I have a local pub called' The Goose'(that is another story!) and like any pub it has its regulars. One guy is nick named 'Paul the Concrete.' He is a bit of a crazy old northern guy displaced in the Midlands...A bit like myself! Anyway, he is the sort of guy who can get his hands on most things and is also a keen fisherman! My friend she did pester and pester the poor guy for jellied eels...then one day I came home from work and a bag was tied to my backdoor handle..like something out of Withnail and I..he had visited, I wasn't in so he had tied them to the door handle!! They looked and smelled horrendous!! A description...The dish is traditionally prepared using the freshwater eels native to Britain. Typically, the eels are chopped into rounds and boiled in a fish stock with nutmeg, lemon juice and a mirepoix before being allowed to cool. The eel is a naturally gelatinous fish so the cooking process releases fats into the liquid which solidify on cooling to form a jelly, though gelatin may be added in order to aid this process. It looks like bits of cartilage in frog spawn!! My mate is such a, I will eat anything type of person, in a sort of big headed look at me way!! lol !! :-D I knew even she would find these repulsive..I of course would revel in the fact she was just a big mouth who didn't back up what she proclaimed!!I was going to love this opportunity, oh yes!! mwa mwa!! The moment of truth came..I ate a whole piece..fook it is rank if you are wondering..but that is not why I ate it.. then she bit a little piece off and nearly threw up on the spot!! victory was mine..I would have bragging rights for the next week at least!!! She was humbled by the jellied Eel!! The point of this tale is that 1) Whenever I look at this picture it makes me smile 2) Whenever I think of jellied eels I smile 3) I will never eat jellied eels again 4) I will never forget my friends face when she ate the jellied eel 5) It is one of the memories that will always make me think of her even in 20 years time 6)Why do friends enjoy torturing each other in a good way? 7) I would never have tried jellied eels if it wasn't for my friend 8) Different friends make you do different things ie. some friends you do sensible things with..some you do daft things with!! different friends for different purposes! 9) What would the world be like without your friends? not nearly as good 10) Friends...I love em!! In fact I am just going to text my mate just to remind her of the jellied eels!! mwa mwa mwa :-Dx

The Curious Case Of Benjamin Button - As a film it was ok but I find the concept behind it interesting. Imagine being born looking like Yoda!! Then getting/looking younger as you get older?? But it is only you that is getting/looking younger and everyone else is ageing normally. Also the idea that there is a right time to meet someone? In this case when their ages match up in their forties. The end of the film is quite sad as the woman he loves gets older,he gets younger and they both have to deal with the consequences that brings. Brad Pitt narrates throughout it and I wish he didn't as I can still hear him today!! Cate Blanchett is excellent in it and also looks v v beautiful. I would give it a 6 out of 10! It is quite slow to start but eventually worth the wait :-D

GiRLfRiEnD iN A CoMa

This is one of my all time favourite books! By probably my favourite author. I was fortunate enough to meet him when he visited Nottingham for a book signing event at the Broadway Cinema where he did a reading from his new book J Pod. I got a brief chance to chat to him and we discussed..The Smiths..not his books which I love!! lol!! The book is about a girl called Karen who falls into a coma and then reawakens 17 years later! I could go into lots of detail but you should read the book :-D I think Couplands philisophical outlook on life, which is reflected in his books, is fascinating, thought provoking and relevant. His book GenerationX inspired me to go to university. Whenever I read one of his books it always makes me think about my life and the world we live in. I love this quote by Coupland "Comas really are peculiar only to the late 20th century. Before, say, 1960, people who might have gone into a coma simply died. Comas are more modern than plastics or TV. I like the notion that comas can allow a person to radically reinvent themselves upon awakening. I think we all want to do that -- radically reinvent ourselves -- I think it's our deepest need." Imagine what it would be like to decide to go into a coma and wake up in say 10 years to see what the world would be like???
